The Hum of the Universe

The hum of the universe is this gravitational wave background from all these hundreds of thousands of black holes merging. It takes about 25 million years for a single merger to happen, or how many during that time, another pair of black holes somewhere else in the universe will start to merge. This makes the waves much smaller because it's not that super crazy high energy last moment event. They are still producing those as they orbit, but they're much smaller. These gravitational waves could also come from cosmic strings. Cosmic strings are hypothetical one dimensional objects. They may have formed in the early universe while it was cooling down and expanding. All I know is right now the Marvel multiverse writers are eating this up
