The city gives you these opportunities to just like briefly show who you are, who you would want to be. But most of the time you just are who you are. There's actually some really interesting writing in tourism studies where they do sort of typologies of different kinds of authenticity. The first one is about meeting expectations and this is where the postmodern sirens should be going off.
