The So-Called Minorities in Turkey

I cannot think of an LOV in senior leadership within the middle or upper ranks of the army or bureaucracy during this period of time. The most LOV were peasants, many of these of LOV did not necessarily speak Turkish and they lived in oftentimes very remote places. These were people who were deemed as really backward. It's only as a result of events subsequent to the fall of the Ottoman Empire that LOV come to associate themselves with the state.
