The Loss of Depth in the Mario Movie

There is not a massive, intertextual meta world of Mario ideas. And in fact, his vagueness as a leading figure is limiting in the kind of story that you can tell. Even watching the stingers of this movie, and I don't wanna spoil them necessarily, but I was like, one of the lamest, most nonspecific stingers I can ever imagine. It had really nothing to do with that. This wasn't Harry Styles showing up at the end of Eternals, you know what I mean? It was something significantly lower wattage. But again, that's just because it's just for kids. It's just for children.
