The New Defense Authorization Act Changes Our Policy on Taiwan

The National Defense Authorization Act has passed every year into law and it authorizes our country's war spending and activities. The Taiwan Relations Act allows the US government to give defensive weapons to Taiwan via foreign military sales, direct private sector sales, and cooperation between US-based multinationals and Taiwanese industry. On top of that, the NDAA says that the US should facilitate exchanges between defense officials and officers of the US and Taiwan at the strategic policy and functional levels consistent with the Taiwan Travel Act.
