Jesse: I think where it gets specific and contemporary is going to feel dated, which is fine if you're writing a book that's founded in a particular moment. But this is a book about timeless, timelessness,. philosophies that covered all sorts of different periods. He says when you add these caveats to either avoid being yelled at or to signal you're on a particular team, he always thinks that diminishes the value of nonfiction writing.
