Thirty-six years after the boycott, Indianola is still hurting. The well-off community Reverend Freeman moved to in the mid-1980s has been decimated by white flight and industrial decline. But not everything the concerned citizens fought for has vanished. Today, four of the five school board members serving Indianola are black.
