Timothy Stanley: The promised Messiah was going to come through a family tree. He says the Old Testament accounts show that they lived in an area of the world continually conquered by empires greater than Israel. And so there was the temptation to intermarry with people from other nations and produce children not pure blooded Jewish folk, he says. Stanley: There does seem to be some evidence that when women were in labor, if the child was a boy, it was possible that this boy could have been Messiah.
