The Importance of Trust in Social Consensus

I think it's the part in some ways that is the most relevant, which is that I just know the world's round because a bunch of people told me it was. And so when you muck with that trust, when the trust starts to become untethered or where trust is incredibly Balkanized, the entire foundation for social consensus and knowledge formation gets completely destroyed. The cure for too much elitism is more small de-democracy. As much as we have seen a lot of elite failure in the last couple of years, I'm not sure small de- democracy is looking so good either.
