The Last Thing I Saw After Leaving the Shipwreck

The ship Valencia sank off the coast of Vancouver Island in January 1912. 137 passengers and crew members were killed, including many women and children. Attempts to fire a rescue line from the lile gun into the trees at the top of the nearby cliff failed. A small group of men even managed to make it to shore but could have saved more people.
