Steve raskin was fired from Apple in 85 and started his own company, Next. In 1987, Next was looking for its next round of investment so they were selling shares in the company. The theory goes that Steve would only sell shares to Canon if they agreed to discontinue the cat. Did this really happen? Who knows; it certainly sounds like a frustrating end for a fascinating machine.
