The Fed Is Not Going to Fight Inflation With Five % Negative Rates
If the fed acts to stop the carnage on wall street, there is way more downside in the us Dollar. Weigh more upside in gold. And of course, bonds are going to get destroyed,. Even if the nominal price doesn't fall because of fed buying bonds, the real price will collapse much further. But ten rate hikes is nothing. After ten of them, rates are at two and a half %. Big deal. Inflation is seven and a half% - you're notking to fight inflation with five % negative interest rates. There is no history that shows this an it's impossible.
