The Culture of the Guardian
When I was growing up the Guardian, it was exposing cash for questions. It seemed to be a great ally of the Lawrence family in the wake of Stephen Lawrence's murder. And as a young left wing activist, I thought, wow, this is like the best news paper on the planet. Then, sort of 10 years later, I was just horrified at its coverage of Iraq and then everything that happened since. The Guardians readership became more left wing over some of those years,. maybe slightly more isolated and the Guardian responded to thatIt wasn't universal but by 2003 there was an belief that if you held a general meeting and people got very cross, then they must be right.
