How Random Kitchen Renovations Can Be More Informational Than Random Estimation

From an estimator's perspective, your family and friends are essentially a random sampling because they may live in different cities or different states. Do you find that that random sampling is actually more informative? In the closer you could get to the kind of renovation that you're doing and make that your sample the better so that you have examples that are similar to your own. People often use that as an excuse to not collect any data at all because they can't find anything they think that is exactly like what they're doing. The numbers are irrelevant and that is emphatically not the case. They typically take nothing and don't do this.
