Are High Frequency Traders Adding Value to Society?
In an orthodox conception, like, a video game company should have some value because they can sell video games. But the notion that fun has an economic value that someone can capture is quite orthodox. And if you buy a stock for fun it will not affect the price much compared to these large institutional fos thittarels more or less self-consciously rational. None of that feels any more true now than it did three years ago.
