How to Pronounce Mithras

The Romans were tolerant of religions generally. They would identify their own gods with a certain element or certain elements of gods that they encountered. And I think that's probably what happened with Mithras. They saw certain characteristics in Mithras which they identified with from their own religious experience and so they mauled it into a particular religion With its own liturgy and iconography.
