Playing a Long Game
The long term game is often played by a large organization, that can completely disrupt part of the industry. Google reader quickly took over the market because it was well designed and free. Or consider the case of amazon. Jeff has publicly stated that he's playing a very long game. If you own a store that sells stuff just like amazon does, but maybe not quite as much in stock or aggressively priced, you've got a problem. Your biggest competitor is playing a game far, far longer than you can afford to play.
