What's the Incentive to Repent?

I feel like if you have enough money, you just don't care any more. What's the incentive to apologize? Not that i'm urk. No, you'd get killed harder. But there were a lot of rich people who did shady stuff during that time period. I think it would be nie to see some remorse. That's all i'm asking for. Is that too much to ask for?
