What Is That Hawking Radiation?

If you made black holes, they would explode almost instantaneously. The kind we're talking about making at the large hadron colider would last like ten to t e minus 27 seconds. And they would just emit a bunch of hawking radiation. But what is that hawking radiation, and how would you see it?
