What I Loved About Your Interviews With Themor Oris
Minister peters is your protagonist. And in leaving the south to go live in the north, he's not only leaving behind all horrors of slavery and jim crow and all that, but he's also leaving behind personal ghosts. So you have a character who has a lot of reasons to want to change things up. I can imagine the tension between wanting to stay some place that feels like home, which is the only place you've known,. But also wanting to escape because it carries with it so much pain and the echoes of so many human suffering.
