The Average Average Inflation Rate of the 1970s

The 1940s actually saw a pretty comparable average to the 70s like at 6.4%. Is that pre or post World War II? This is the entirety of the 1940s. The answer is both. So what's often missed in this is that the inflation during the 1970s was uneven around that that 6.8%. And there was a lot of variance in the price changes of all kinds of different stuff.
