Self-talk is the ability to deliberately talk to yourself in a meaningful way. There's motivational and instructional self-talk, which is another way to break this down. The last piece of self-talk that I'll highlight is what we call cognitive appraisals. What happens when you're appraising both data on your watch or your cycling computer? That could be a big tipping point for performing well or blowing up.
