Early on with the PS5, there was like this big deal about the PS5's SSD. I hated that so much. You can compress stuff on PC too. It's not against the law or anything,. A lot of games do that already. Microsoft did the direct IO thing where you have the NVME drive directly feeding data to the PCI E graphics card over the PCIe bus. But again, that was available on PC too and Linux can support that kind of thing too with SRIOV.
