The story has some meaning by virtue of the fact that these two are so explicit in that narrative. Suggests that there were individuals later that might have been accusing nephite of murder. And so he gives you the full story. Now there's more to it, and part of it is a legal explanation as to what really happened. The lord recognizes that there are different situationsand that's one of the great things, i think, about the law of moses.
