The Stoics said that we should live according to nature, meaning according to human nature. We have certain wants and certain needs, certain fears, certain things that we want to stay away from,. And those are the things that we call right when they happen and wrong when they fail to happen. I think a similar argument has can be made for human beings. The fundamental building blocks of what we consider moral behavior are found in other social primates like bonobos or capuchin monkeys.
