Are We All the Same Species?
The Eucharist uses the language of substance and accidents to account for what's going on in St. Paul's life. We all possess a substance of humanity or how do we make sense of if someone wants to be a vegetarian so they eat some lettuce well that lettuce was growing it was happily living out in some farm someplace as a lettuce and then it gets eaten by us. What happens when the lettuce gets substantially changed it becomes us the lettuce ceases to exist. Kyle has gone through a substantial change and we might get a bit fatter through having our nice New York steak but we're still Joe or Jane.
