Effective Altruism Is a Good Idea
Q and Setia believes that effective altruists still mischaracterize the nature of our obligations. Sometimes we're just not responsible for what happens on the other side of the world, he argues. At other times, we are responsible, but in which case, let's not view our help as charity. The idea then is that sometimes redistribution of resources is more like reparations or compensation than charity.
