For Gina Cadlix, some of the associations that come with evangelicalism are very, very warm. The signs that Gina rubbed up against the story she was raised in came really early. Marriage in the church means safety. Churches are organized around relationships. And single women are suspect. If I was married to a guy like this, I was especially safe. She writes about that time in her book.
