The Christian narrative is that resurrection and healing cannot exist for a person until the person has experienced the death of something. We have to go through our deaths in order for resurrection and healing to begin to exist for us. To linger in death means to sit in the particular moments of betrayal in your life, of powerlessness, of shame that mark your stories. This is what it means to enter death and death evokes grief.
