The Liberian War in Monrovia
On May 22, three headless bodies were found in the Monrovia suburb of Gardener'sville. Hundreds of mano and guillot people from Nimme County gathered for protection in a UN compound which was raided by government soldiers. Substantial numbers of government soldiers were deserting, some to join the NPFL. Anyone considered a collaborator with the Doe government was at risk of attack. The rising is clearly taking the form of an ethnic pogrom for the government and those associated with it.
