The Importance of Individualism in Modernity

In the Islamic tradition, Hamdulah, we believe that the self is not what you make it out to be. We are lying ourselves with something higher beyond ourselves and we take that as a measure of truth. The era of individualism is it assumes that the individual can do that and the only criteria it provides. And if we veer off that path, we experience all sorts of psychological hells and pain,. hence the birth of many contemporary pathologies like modern Nihilism.
