The Zeal of the Convert

You write, immediately after the spiritual awakening that i described it in the first chapter, i was left without any direction. But since i had the impression that jesus christ had been responsible for the experience, that the logical thing to do was to try and read the bible again and to become a christian. And so i did. I became a member of a local church, and was soon overtaken by what i call the zeal of the convert. The zeal of the converting is when you believe something because you have never before had anything to believe in. You were prepared to defend your beliefs at all costs even though you knew deep down there was no good reason to believe them. So
