I wonder if that's sort of the same with our state that we need to have the aim of virtue in order to participate in it. Absolutely. I mean, something that I sort of a while back, found myself digging into is the history, not just of free speech discourse, but of kind of classical liberalism more generally. There's been a lot of argument lately that liberalism itself is kind of a disaster and we should scrap it all together. But I think that what's much nearer the truth is that we got to the point where we were capable of doing liberal things like personal liberties.
