Introduction

Victor Monan: Anna Elisa Burda, professor emeritus of biology at San Diego State University. She co-authored Rebels, Scholars, Explorers, Women in Vertebrate Paleontology which retraces the multiple contributions made by women since the 18th century until today. The book begins with an introduction to the field and then talks a little about different paleontologic organizations and the role of women in these groups. And then at the very last chapter discusses some of the challenges that women have faced, which is regarding pay and equity, conducting work in the field, harassment issues, all these sorts of things.
