CHAPTER

Building Collective Power to Combat Racism

I think if we're going to tackle structural racism, which I think is the central question for us today, we's going to need to build organizational power. My weariness is around throwing out the baby with the bathwater and saying all kind of anti-racism interventions that might be seen as more on the liberal side are de facto useless. The idea that the end result is to change someone else's mind and then somehow magically everything else will fall into place is actually harmful. Unless it's done in the context of actual collective insurgency against structural forces of racism, then it becomes harmful.
