"We beseech thee three days journey into the wilderness that we may sacrifice to the lord, our god," moses says. "I wonder if this is just the beginning of a test for pharaoh... Will you at least honor our humanity ... and religious desires enough?" God lets Moses know in advance what pharaoh's response will be: In 18, he said, the people, your people, will hearken to your voice.
