Boris johnson and his relate ship with the truth has been terribly undermining of politics in britain. He got brexit through by promising everything to everybody, he promised them that would be absolutely fine. The tory party has continued to have these two wings, a sort of protectionist, corporatist, reasonably high spending wing, and then a more libertarian wing. And he's never tried to resolve contradictions between that. That is produced a kind of government by fantasy.
