The Passion for the Impossible
Faith is a kind of passion for the impossible. Think of abraham about to raise the knife to kill his own beloved son. Talk about awful, awful suffering, but it's placed within the context of god's purpose. And that he demonstrates this trust makes him the father of faith. The sheer intensity of the faith that he demonstrated flashed forward to jesus on the cross.
