GraphQL - The Backend Developer's Choice
One benefit I've seen from GraphQL was when I replaced multiple REST requests in our front end JavaScript to make a single GraphQL call that fetched all the data needed for the UI. The more the backend knows about what you want, like the bigger picture, the more it can hold on to the big picture of what it is that you want.
