The Relationship Between Divine Violence and Jesus
There are many stories about people dying because they did something wrong, right? Yeah. They turned to stone. Well, specifically just being like zapped down in the tabernacle. People get worked over. It's violent Because of divine violence. So is God merciful or does God show his enemies no mercy? Yes. And then there's a tension forwards with how you think which model do you think God's going to use to defeat evil at the culmination of history? The Old Testament divine violence model or the Jesus style. I'm not saying I'm even happy with that way of setting up the question, but that's how it appears to us.
