Stephen Jay Gould and Niall's Eldritch Were Exhilarated
Stephen Jay Gould challenged another sacred tenet of Darwinism though he always maintained he was still essentially a Darwinist. He argued that some features of a species were just accidental outcomes chance in other words that one didn't sit well with many of his fellow evolutionary scientists but they did support his activism against a rising creationist movement which he'll mention in a moment. Then again he created another uproar when he became an outspoken critic of colleagues in his own department for applying sociobiology to humans.
