How Can I Give My Kids Words if I Don't Have Them?

Oral communication, including a t v script, is decidedly inferior to print for building vocabulary. For printed material, the number of rare words increases significantly. This poses serious problems for at risk children who hear fewer words and encounter print less often at home. Such children face a gigantic word gap that impedes reading progress throughout school. And that gap can't be breached in 120 hours of summer school or through morphonic instruction.
