The Green Knight and Gawain's Relationships

The colour green is associated with nature in the poem. But it was also the colour of the devil, and that becomes very important as the poem moves towards the green chapel. Gawain at that moment thinks that he's dealing with someone demonic, someone diabolical. So there the colour green takes on a different meaning. It's the association with a devil that matters there.
