Newspapers all over New Orleans christened him, glad to have a name for their once anonymous phantom killer. The Times Picayune announced police believe Axeman may be active in city and copies flew off the stands. Less than one week after Mary Schneider's attack, on August 10th, 1918, he set out to butcher his next victim.
