The Importance of HLA Antibodies

Most blood centers don't test their platelet donors for any HPA antigens. A way you can pick up HPA antibodies is occasionally if you don't have HLA antibodies, but you ordered cross-matched platelets at the same time and they were incompatible. You really do need to test for HPA antibodies.
