Mike Stevenson and John Kongos were the first people to use a sample in a song. Stevie Wonder was one of the most famous early adopters on his 1979 album, Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants. The computer music melodian is basically the same concept as that melodron: Each key plays back a sound.
