When Napoleon invaded Spain, the US ambassador to Spain used the opportunity of political upheaval to smuggle a herd of merino wool sheep. In 10 years, it was 20% forested and 80% pasture. The entire state of Arkansas is deforested. And so these were all the things that were sort of like getting me ready to be able to see how you can really integrate the immaterial and say the biological and physical aspects of the world.
