The first thing that I would focus on is looking at an electrolyte panel. Common electrolyte arrangements in these patients include hypokalemia, hypomexemia. A low bicarbonate might be a worrisome marker of worsening disease. When you start seeing normal PSA CO2 levels or even hypercarbeous, so your PSA CO 2 is more than 45, this can be an initial predictor of worsening clinical status.
