John Wright: I'm afraid that as a nation, we're sending out a message that it's okay to keep taking on more and more debt. He says you can't get yourself out of debt by taking out more debt. "It's really just kind of slapping a bandaid on it," he adds. The US has carried a debt since its inception at $408 billion in inflation-adjusted 2022 dollars. Today the U.S. is worth an estimated $31 trillion.
