The Role of Consistency in Routines

Schools make exceptions for self-defense, acts of war, immense instability and so on. The problem is that many schools tend to draw the line far too far. A student with Tourette syndrome doesn't get sanctioned for swearing because that would be absurd. I sometimes find asynchronous learning to be a much more useful device to blend perhaps with a little bit of synchronous learning. But in an emergency circumstance that COVID we have to be far more careful that we're not making assumptions about children's ability to use computers or laptops.
